Lily - Angelica - Iris - Violet - Poppy - Jasmine - Hyacinth

Lily, Angelica, Iris, Violet, Poppy, Jasmine, Hyacinth - 2016

Through her six illustrations on paper, Jane has chosen ink to represent six women’s faces.

Who are they ? Where do they come from ? What is their story ?

The artist has chosen six first names to name these women with angular faces, sometimes with absent looks, but whose evocative eyes are the central elements of the drawing. Their mouths, on the other hand, seem mute, almost insignificant. Here, these women, most of whom are named after flowers, appear to be speechless, but seem to have the will to address the viewer.

Dear readers, look carefully at these faces, take the time to hold their gaze and try to see what only you can see.
