Bathers, as seen by Jane Gemayel

In her painting Group of Women (2006), Jane has chosen to honor the bathers, who are a symbol in the history of art.

Indeed, Gustave Courbet’s painting The Bathers in 1853 caused a furore among the public. The theme of the bathers was subsequently taken up by the greatest painters who seized upon the codes of what would become a symbol of freedom.
